Glass Replacement & Repairs in Bowen

We replace and repair damaged glass, including laminated, Low-E, toughened, float and obscured glass, for windows, doors and everyday residential applications.

Restore Damaged Glass With Practical Options

When glass is damaged, the first job is working out whether it can be repaired or whether replacement is the practical answer. We look at the pane itself, the frame around it and how the opening is used day to day, then explain what each option involves.

Broken windows, cracked door panels, failed shower glass and damaged mirrors all get the same straightforward assessment. Accurate measurement matters as much as the glass itself, so we take the sizes on site rather than working from guesswork.

Where a job is urgent, we talk through what can be made safe now and what needs to be ordered in, so nothing is left open longer than it has to be.

Glass Options For Different Applications

Much of our glass and aluminium work is fabricated in house at our Bowen workshop, which keeps lead times sensible and lets us match what is already on the building. As a Bradnam's licensee we can also supply their aluminium windows and doors when a whole unit is a better answer than a single pane.

Glass options include laminated for strength and noise, Low-E for heat control, toughened where safety glass is required, float for standard glazing and obscured where privacy is the point. Those choices apply across windows, sliding and hinged doors, shower screens, mirrors, wardrobe doors and shopfront glazing, so the right glass can be specified for each opening rather than one type used everywhere.

Common questions

  • Float glass covers standard glazing, toughened glass is used where safety glass is required, laminated glass adds strength and helps with noise, Low-E glass helps control heat transfer, and obscured glass is used where privacy is needed. The right choice depends on the opening, its location and how the room is used.

  • In most cases yes. If the frame, hardware and seals are sound, the glass alone can be measured and replaced. Replacing the full window usually only makes sense when the frame itself is damaged, corroded or no longer operating properly.

  • Laminated glass has an interlayer that holds the glass together if it breaks, which also helps reduce noise. Toughened glass is heat treated so it is stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into small blunt pieces. Both are safety glass, and which one suits an opening depends on the application.
